A Sailor Went To Sea

A Sailor Went To Sea

A lot of times for us young people, when people ask us what we want to do with our lives it’s like “here we go again 🙄” And yes I agree, it can be annoying to be asked that all of your youthful life BUT really though, what are we doing?

You can be anything and everything you want to be. You may not know it straight away but that is what prayer and The Holy Spirit is there for, to guide us on our right path to success and a victorious life.

The Holy Spirit will help guide you to make the right choices. He lives inside of us and is ready to help us fulfil God’s best plan for our lives.

Without guidance from God, law and order disappear, but God blesses everyone who obeys his Law. – Proverbs 29:18

You don’t have to feel lost or confused or as if you don’t know who you are or what to do or like there is not order to your life.

The best thing to do is allow Him to lead and direct us and that way, we are sure we cannot fail in whatever it is we do.

Your ears will hear a word behind you, “This is the way, walk in it,” whenever you turn to the right or to the left. – Isaiah 30:21

We shouldn’t rely on just ourselves and our own knowledge of life and situations, but on God. He is the one who gives our lives a meaning and we should trust in Him to make our lives beautiful successes through listening, acting and confessing His word and following His plan.

Trust in and rely confidently on the Lord with all your heart. And do not rely on your own insight or understanding. – Proverbs 3:5

As a child of God, we come from a line of winners, champions, the victors. We have been graced with the awesomeness of God🤔. To put it short – we’re pretty special👀😎 #Justsaying😄

So, never let anyone tell you that can’t do anything or be anything and don’t let anything stop you, including yourself. Dive deeper into what’s in store for you, think about and speak into your future.

Don’t let only what you can see from your boat be all that there is. There’s always more under the surface …

Keep Shining & Winning!✨👑

Acton Carnival

Acton Carnival

On the 9th of July 2016, Acton Carnival happened. And of course WE happened too.

(Our Church stand where people were able to stop and talk to our appointed members behind the desk, find out information and be blessed by the word.)

Acton Carnival is one of the summer festivals that takes place in Ealing [London]. It is an amazing event celebrating the community and culture of everyone with live music, good food and beautiful stands.

My church, BLW Hammersmith actively took part in this carnival having our own stand in Acton Park and evangelising throughout the day with our daily devotional Rhapsody of Realities (ROR).

We had a glorious time giving out ROR and preaching the gospel to the many people that attended the carnival. I personally really enjoyed this opportunity because there were a lot of young people who came out on this beautiful day, who I and my other teens were able to reach out to and talk to about God and Jesus Christ.

“And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.” – Mark 16:15

We have a job to do, and no one said we couldn’t have fun while doing it!

The atmosphere of love and laughter and life was very present and strong. But so was the presence of the Holy Spirit who was our guide and also doing his job as we did ours, planting the seed, the gospel into the people of the Acton community and all those who came to celebrate with us.

“And let us consider [thoughtfully] how we may encourage one another to love and to do good deeds, not forsaking our meeting together [as believers for worship and instruction], as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more [faithfully] as you see the day [of Christ’s return] approaching.” – Hebrews 10:24-25

As children of God, we need to take advantage of opportunities like this, to reach the masses, bring them into God’s loving arms, help each other grow in the Word and go back out there to reach more.

From the prayers leading up to the carnival to partaking on the day itself, it was a lovely experience and I cannot wait for next year!

The Best

The Best

God only made one you. He only made one of us each and we all have our different characters, personalities, identities and DNA. ✨

It’s okay, to want to be like someone else or admire who they are and what they do, especially if they are successful. Draw inspiration and aspire, but don’t lose yourself and who God made you to be trying to become that person. (And remember only God knows a person’s true intentions and their heart, so be wise in who you decide to follow, always make sure The Holy Spirit is your number one advisor concerning the matters of your life.)

God has blessed us all and we are all capable of being our own successful person. When we came into Christ, we received everything wonderful and great that comes with that.

For I know the plans and thoughts that I have for you,’ says the Lord, ‘plans for peace and well-being and not for disaster to give you a future and a hope.
– Jeremiah 29:11

God has big plans for you, YOU as an individual. Use His guidance and His word to become the best of you.

We came into this world with our own special and distinctive personalities, with great talents and abilities.

God doesn’t make mistakes. Like, it’s not a thing. 😄

He loves us like a Father who wants nothing but the best for his children.

Doesn’t that tell you something!? He must want YOU. He wants you to be the best version of you possible. Invest in yourself and your attitude, and add value to yourself.

But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. – 1 Peter 2:9

You have the ability to be awesome and great and so influential. Find that thing you’re good at or that you have a passion for, work on it, for it, improve yourself and become the best of you, the you that will be an advantage and favourable to the World. The you that not only has the power to cause changes but actually uses that power.

Love yourself and the beautiful person God has made you to be in Christ. Use all that he has given you to be the best of you and give the best.

Know Your Worth

This #TunesTuesday the song that’s being added to the playlist is ‘Gold’ by Britt Nicole.

I first discovered this song on LoveWorld TV Channel (A Christian network – check it out) and I remember thinking wow, I love this song, it’s catchy, upbeat and sends a good message. While the song was still playing I went straight on to google to find the lyrics and find out about the artist. I downloaded the song onto my phone, listening to it on repeat non-stop for about a week!😬😄

“So, hold your head up high,
It’s your time to shine. ✨
From the inside out it shows,
You’re worth more than Gold.”💕

The song is like a confession and it’s making a statement to yourself about who you are.

“So don’t let anybody tell you
That you’re not loved
And don’t let anybody tell you
That you’re not enough”🙌

God loves you no matter who or what you are, even before you came to him. He knew you and loved you as you were and as you are. Know your worth. 👌

The bible says,

“You are the light of the World.” – Matthew 5:14

Yes, YOU! And we all know how important light is.
🌞⭐️🔥

So for us to be the light of the world that must mean we are some pretty important and special people. And don’t forget it.

“You’re a King, you’re a Queen
Inside and out”

When you come into this new life, you became joint-heirs with Christ. Royalty is in our DNA.

Remember to love yourself always and love others too. Love is a great power, bringing everything and everyone together. ❤️

Here’s the song and video from YouTube, but if you want to download it – and the whole album, which is called “Gold” also – or listen to it on your phone (repeatedly like me😂) you can find it on Spotify, iTunes, Google Play etc.

“For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” – Ephesians 2:10

Don’t Rain on My Parade

Don’t Rain on My Parade

Have you ever found someone – maybe even close to you – say or ask you these things:

“Yeah, I mean it sounds great, but are you sure you can do this?”

“That’s a nice idea, but maybe you should try something else.”

“I don’t think that’s really for you to be honest.”

“Do you really think that will work? I’m just looking out for you, why won’t you listen to me?”

***

🤔 Uh, hello?? I’m not listening to you because you’re trying to rain on my parade.🌧☔️

Don’t let other people dictate what is and isn’t best for you. (Especially when you know it’s God’s plan for you). That’s the Holy Spirit’s job and I’m quite sure (100% sure actually😅) that He isn’t out of business.

Of course, you can ask for their opinion or even advice, because that person may have a good idea or input towards that thing you want to do. But once you hear the negativity coming out of their mouth you just know that you don’t have to listen to that. Just tell them “Hey, thanks but no thanks.”👍

I know that I can do anything I set my mind to because God’s ability is at work in me.

If it’s not helpful or aligning with what God’s Word 📖 has said about you and the things concerning you then you don’t need that kind of information/advice/input.

Let’s see what the Bible says actually…

“Commit your works to the Lord [submit and trust them to Him], And your plans will succeed [if you respond to His will and guidance].” – Proverbs 16:3

So, as you can see, as long as you trust God, put your faith in Him and come to him with your hearts desires, ‘your plans will succeed’. It doesn’t matter what anyone else has to say about the situation as God’s word is your ultimate guide and counsel.

“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” – Psalm 119:105

Also, remember not to rain on anyone else’s parade🌞, there’s enough success to go around. This is the year of spreading so let us help each other when we can to spread like never before. You are blessed to be a blessing.

Go beyond the limits and start a total take over☄🌎. Everything belongs to you. God told Abraham that he would make him and his seed great. [Genesis 12:1-3] And WE are the seed of Abraham. When accept Jesus Christ as the Lord of your life, all that God promised Abraham, He promised you too as Abraham’s seed.

“And if you belong to Christ [if you are in Him], then you are Abraham’s descendants, and [spiritual] heirs according to [God’s] promise.” – Galatians 3:29

Whether you want to be a doctor or you’re an aspiring artist/musician. Whether blogging is your passion or fashion is where it’s at. Maybe law is your thing or teaching. You might even have an idea that’s totally brand new (even better!) Whatever it is you want to do, or have started doing – be the best, because you ARE the best.

Start working towards your goals in life with the Holy Spirit as your guide and tell the haters to either change their attitude and join you or step aside!

I know that there’s no room for negativity in my life.✌️

You know, sometimes people may really believe they are looking out for you. Just tell them not to worry. We already have someone looking out for us and He’s already told us what we’re capable of. 😏

“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” – Philippians 4:13

Receive

Receive

I was listening to a message by a Pastor called “Making your faith work” and there was something he said that caught my attention, “The problem is that, people pray and don’t receive.” 🤔

He then gave an example saying that, people who pray and don’t receive are like people who go to the bank to cash a cheque, give the cheque to the cashier and then walk out of the bank before collecting the cash.

Uh, would you just leave your money like that? 😳

Sometimes we’re praying for something and we get so caught up in ourselves and that thing we want that we forget the receiving part.

Prayer is two-way, it’s how God communicates with you directly and you with him. If we’re praying about something and then just end the prayer and carry on, what have we gained? What did God say to us?

If the answer to those questions seems like it’s “nothing” then obviously we’re missing something vital. Prayer is not just for us to complain and say “gimme gimme ’cause my name is Jimmy”. It’s for us to listen to what God has to say to us and what He wants to show us – His plans for us and to answer our requests.

God is a God who answers prayers, He likes to talk to you and do wonderful things for your life. God is way more willing to give than you are to receive. If only you’d listen to what He has to say when you speak to Him.

What matters to us becomes God’s concern.

“…So that whatever you ask of the Father in My name [as My representative] He may give to you.” – John 15:16

Imagine going to your friend and asking them for advice on something because you know they’re qualified in that field and whatever they say concerning your situation would be the best plan of action for you. And then as they’re about to reply, you cut them off and say “Okay, thanks. I’m sure you’ll sort it out somehow for me.”

You didn’t care to find out what the person could do for you and what YOU could do with the information that they would give you and then you get upset when things don’t work out “according to plan”. But the truth is you didn’t even know the plan or how it would involve you because you forgot to receive the answer. 🙄

So, open up your heart to the Word and your spirit during prayer. Pray earnestly and tune into God, so that you can receive.

“…The heartfelt and persistent prayer of a righteous man (believer) can accomplish much [when put into action and made effective by God—it is dynamic and can have tremendous power].” – James 5:16

“Of a righteous man (believer).” – Don’t forget to have faith and make it work when you pray. When you pray, believe that God has done it for you and begin to talk and act that way. Put the word God has given you to work and don’t forget to thank him always.

Exercise your faith. Faith is consistent. Nothing is too big for God, so trust Him to do it for you.

This picture is from my daily devotional that I read and the title of this message was called True Faith. Here is an excerpt from it:

“If you don’t know what you’re doing, pray to the Father. He loves to help. You’ll get his help, and won’t be condescended to when you ask for it. Ask boldly, believingly, without a second thought. People who “worry their prayers” are like wind-whipped waves. Don’t think you’re going to get anything from the Master that way, adrift at sea, keeping all your options open.” – James 1:5-8

So remember to always pray, but also remember to receive while praying. When you pray and talk with God, you should never leave the same way you entered that prayer, you should never leave empty handed. God always has something for you.

Walk the Walk

Walk the Walk

“You can talk the talk, but can you walk the walk?”
An idiom people have been saying for years.

And it’s a very valid question too.

As Christians, we hear or read the word almost everyday, if not everyday. In church, group meetings, programs, at home, through the bible, books, leaders, music etc. But sometimes all we do is just that: hear and read.

Sure it’s great, we know the Word! Woo!🎉🎈

How about sharing it though? Or acting on it?

“But don’t just listen to God’s word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves.” – James 1:22

And in fooling yourself, you’re not fooling anyone else. I mean, it’s going to be hard to get people to follow you or listen to what you say if they can’t see you acting on your beliefs and God’s Word.

Practice what you preach right?

We shouldn’t let people look at us and not see God at Work or us carrying out His Work. We have an obligation to act accordingly and to speak right.

It’s not enough to just tell people that we’re Christian or that we believe in the Word of God. We have to show them it works, show them how it has changed us through our actions and our words. And we have to make sure our words match our actions too. We can’t confess one thing, but still be acting contradictive to our words.

“Do not let unwholesome [foul, profane, worthless, vulgar] words ever come out of your mouth, but only such speech as is good for building up others, according to the need and the occasion, so that it will be a blessing to those who hear [you speak].” – Ephesians 4:29

We have to be different, we are different and they have to see the difference – especially when we’re trying to win a soul and most specifically souls of friends and family as they are the ones who are around us the most.

We have to fully commit ourselves to the gospel and allow Jesus to shine through us.

You’ve got to go all out for the gospel, change the way you think, speak and act. Use the power in the Word. We are God’s priority and anything we say or do concerning his word; He’ll always back us up. We shouldn’t be afraid to walk the walk. Use your faith to produce results.

Remember, you’re a shiner and a winner!
Show that! 😀
