Moving Forward

Moving Forward

How amazing is it that the month ‘ishineiwin’ comes back is the same month that my Pastor announces is the month of “Moving Forward”.

The plan was to come back in introducing the “Word of the Month” Segment. #Destiny 🙆🙌😂.

It’s good to be back: The hiatus wasn’t planned, but then I realised I had to stop talking🗣 for moment, listen👂and gain more understanding🕵️‍♀️ before I could go on – which is what I’ve been doing the past two months and we’re back!💃.

“Wisdom is the principal thing; Therefore get wisdom. And in all your getting, get understanding.” – Proverbs 4:7

During Pastor’s message of the month, the most important word for me which I took from it was that we shouldn’t ask God for progress and that we should make it.

“But you, dear friends, use your most holy faith to build yourselves up even stronger.” – Jude 20a

In that scripture above, it says “build yourselves up”, that means it’s our responsibility to take the building materials God has given to us (His Word) and use that to advance in life, making our story one of success and victory.

God has already given us everything we need, it’s already all inside of us and if we want something, all we have to do is reach in and take it and use it. Through His Word and answering His call, we have been given the ability to do all.

“For His divine power has bestowed on us [absolutely] everything necessary for [a dynamic spiritual] life and godliness, through [a] true and personal knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and excellence.” – 2 Peter 1:3

I’m so happy that this was the word of the month because, it was like someone knocked me on the head and was like “hello? Why have you stopped building? Whose responsibility do you think it is to sort your life out, love?” For a while, I had become complacent and I was just thinking, yeah yeah, no, yeah, God knows what I want to do, he’ll handle it for me.👌

That’s like being employed and your employer gives you materials and an instruction manual, then you start working but halfway through think, “Oh, the boss knows what needs to be done, he’ll do the rest.” But it’s YOUR job😳🙄. The boss has already done his part, the rest is up to you. I was playing myself to be honest.😅

We need to put our faith to work continuously and not lose sight of the bigger plans.

“The whole Bible was given to us by inspiration from God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives; it straightens us out and helps us do what is right.” – 2 Timothy 3:16

We should use the word of God to build up are lives, to guide us in the right direction and keep us moving forward.

Put your faith to work and make up your mind to win, always.

Don’t choose to be a failure and don’t take your life lightly, God gave His son for us, I’d say that makes our lives pretty important and we should spend our time wisely; helping and inspiring others; spreading the gospel and always, consistently moving upwards and forwards.

Don’t let your story stop here. God always has more instore for you.

“God is able to make it up to you by giving you everything you need and more so that there will not only be enough for your own needs but plenty left over to give joyfully to others.” – 2 Corinthians 9:8

Acton Carnival

Acton Carnival

On the 9th of July 2016, Acton Carnival happened. And of course WE happened too.

(Our Church stand where people were able to stop and talk to our appointed members behind the desk, find out information and be blessed by the word.)

Acton Carnival is one of the summer festivals that takes place in Ealing [London]. It is an amazing event celebrating the community and culture of everyone with live music, good food and beautiful stands.

My church, BLW Hammersmith actively took part in this carnival having our own stand in Acton Park and evangelising throughout the day with our daily devotional Rhapsody of Realities (ROR).

We had a glorious time giving out ROR and preaching the gospel to the many people that attended the carnival. I personally really enjoyed this opportunity because there were a lot of young people who came out on this beautiful day, who I and my other teens were able to reach out to and talk to about God and Jesus Christ.

“And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.” – Mark 16:15

We have a job to do, and no one said we couldn’t have fun while doing it!

The atmosphere of love and laughter and life was very present and strong. But so was the presence of the Holy Spirit who was our guide and also doing his job as we did ours, planting the seed, the gospel into the people of the Acton community and all those who came to celebrate with us.

“And let us consider [thoughtfully] how we may encourage one another to love and to do good deeds, not forsaking our meeting together [as believers for worship and instruction], as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more [faithfully] as you see the day [of Christ’s return] approaching.” – Hebrews 10:24-25

As children of God, we need to take advantage of opportunities like this, to reach the masses, bring them into God’s loving arms, help each other grow in the Word and go back out there to reach more.

From the prayers leading up to the carnival to partaking on the day itself, it was a lovely experience and I cannot wait for next year!

A Life Worth Living

A Life Worth Living

Two weeks ago, I talked about not letting anyone rain on our parade and how we can do anything we set our minds too with the Holy Spirit as our guide.

This week, I’m talking about living that good life!🎉 *cue party music*

(Side note – This is literally what I looked like coming out of my final exam this afternoon 😄)

God has given us a life of beauty, success, prosperity and favour. All those things point to a life full of enjoyment to me.🙌

We should take advantage of the new life we have in Christ, enjoying it to the fullest and bringing other people into it, so they can enjoy it with us – I mean, who wants to party alone all the time🙄? 👬👫👭

Psalm 24: 1-2 says:

“The earth is the Lord’s, and the fullness of it, The world, and those who dwell in it.”

And because we are of God, then everything is ours too! Everything that belongs to Jesus Christ belongs to us too because we are joint-heirs with Him. So, really the World and everything in it, is ours and for us to enjoy.

*hint hint*!This means that the best way to enjoy life is with God.

“Everything is already yours as a gift … the world, life, death, the present, the future – all of it is yours, and you are privileged to be in union with Christ, who is in union with God.” – 1 Corinthians 3:21-23

In my previous post, I said that there’s enough success to go around. Well there’s also enough enjoyment and God’s goodness to go around. The earth is full of it.

We shouldn’t live life, just existing, like “Que Sera, Sera” (Whatever will be, will be), but more Carpe diem! Seize the day and its opportunities! Take action. 💥

We’ve got that beautiful God kind of life, that Zoe. So, don’t think we can just be living ordinary lives and that there are certain things we can’t get or don’t deserve. Everything is already ours.

“Everything was created through him; nothing – not one thing! – came into being without him. What came into existence was Life, and the Life was Light to live by. The Life-Light blazed out of the darkness; the darkness couldn’t put it out.” – John 1:3-5

Let’s not let anybody try and put out that light inside of us. Shine brightly, living life to the fullest and enjoying what God has given you, like he intended.

Be happy always and appreciate all that there is to this wonderful life in Christ. From morning to night, family and friends, the food that you eat and the people that you meet. Enjoy everything and every moment of life and all it has to offer and all you have to offer it.

Get Up

Get Up

Mary Mary are a Contemporary Gospel duo (no, I’m not writing a wiki for them.) They’ve sung quite a few songs those women and I think my old church dance group has danced to them more times than I can remember.

There is a song of theirs that I remember more than most and not just because it’s catchy (and it is very catchy). It’s called Get Up.

As children of God we have the power to do anything we set out minds and our hearts to, yet sometimes we choose to sit and do nothing and are content with life taking control of us, rather than the other way round, just because it doesn’t seem to be going “too bad” and I guess we could always just cry about it right?

God made us and he made us for success, it’s never okay to just be “okay” because we’re much more than that and there’s so many great things that we still have to do. We don’t have time to sit down and let life take its course. God has plans for us and we need to put them into action. First step: Get up!

When God was delivering the Israelites from slavery he said to Moses, “Moses, you do something!” God didn’t say that Moses should sit down, He’ll sort it out. (Exodus 14:15-16)

Could you imagine Moses just sitting down drinking Lucozade saying, “well at least we got this far😅, not bad.”? 👌

Yeah. Me neither.😂

We’ve got to change things with our faith and be like Moses and do something! Keep making progress.

“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” – Philippians 4:13

The hook of the song Get up is:

“What are you afraid of?
Don’t you know what you’re made of?
One of God’s greatest creations
Take this invitation now…”

The first two lines ask very important questions and as children our answer to the first should always be “nothing” automatically making our second answer “I do”👰

It’s true that fear – fear of failure is what stops a lot of people from progressing and ultimately from reaching a higher level of success.
“One of God’s greatest creations” – God doesn’t make anything, especially not his greatest creations to fail. So, that fear? Yeah, it can stop now – we’re not failures because there is no failure WITH God and God is always WITH US, therefore…you see where I’m going with this? 😀😌

“For God did not give us a spirit of timidity or cowardice or fear, but [He has given us a spirit] of power and of love and of sound judgment and personal discipline [abilities that result in a calm, well-balanced mind and self-control].” – 2 Timothy 1:7

“He said, She said, They said, What do you say?
• It’s your dreams
• Your choice
• Your time
• Your life
So don’t you miss it”

Another very important fact the song highlights:

YOU. What do YOU say?

Don’t worry about the people around you and what they’re doing with their life or what they think you should be doing with yours. The only consultation you need is the Holy Spirit’s and He will never guide you astray.

Don’t miss out on opportunities based on someone else’s experience with it.

Don’t miss out on the life you were meant to live because you decided to take a back seat. If you’re sitting at the back, then who’s driving?

Get up, and make things happen! Don’t be afraid of life. Live it and love it!♥️

Through God’s Word you can empower yourself, acknowledge the power inside you and use it to make dreams become reality.

“24 hours, almost gone …”🕚💭

He Loves Me

He Loves Me

Many of us who went to Sunday school will remember the lyrics to one of our favourite songs we used to sing every Sunday:

Jesus loves me, This I know
For the Bible tells me so
Little ones to Him belong
They are strong as he is strong.

Yes, Jesus loves me
Yes, Jesus loves me

Yes, Jesus loves me

The Bible tells me so.
#Tune. 🎵👯👌

Sometimes, it would even turn into a competition of who could sing it the loudest.

When we were young, it seemed so easy to confess these things. So easy to sing and shout and let everyone know that you a have God that loves you and will always love you. We were sure of this.

And we were right to be, because this isn’t just a fact, it’s the truth – it’s the reality.

In my last post, I talked about us loving God and giving our heart for Him, but this is not some one sided unrequited love. God loved us first. He gave Son for us. We’re His children and He loves us no matter what.

He gave you His love and everlasting life and so much more. He didn’t even ask for you to change who you were so that He could accept you, He loved you even when you didn’t believe.

“And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.” – Romans 5:5

Sometimes when things aren’t going our way or we do something wrong, we forget about God’s love and plans for us. God isn’t like man, His love isn’t conditional or wavering; it’s unconditional and everlasting.

“But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” – Romans 5:8

Also, we have to remember that no matter what may come our way – Our lives are in the hands of the Lord and I don’t know about you but I wouldn’t want my life to be in anybody else’s but God’s. (He has a never ending, ever increasing, success rate 😌)

Trusting in Him and His Word and His Love, it can only produce good things.

“And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them.” – 1 John 4:16

That is proof that there is no reason anyone should think God doesn’t love or care for them. He is love, therefore he can’t do any differently. He is who He is and nothing can change that. Nothing you do or say can change how He feels about you.

And that is why he wants us to follow His Word and walk in the light, He doesn’t want to see us hurt, but He has given us a choice. Choose to love and stand by him, like He always has you.

Don’t try and read God’s mind from the perspective of your circumstances. You aren’t are alone. God is always with you and will never leave you. Whatever you have done or you think you have done, God still loves you. It can never be too late.

“For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” – Romans 8:38

Anytime you feel differently just say to yourself:

“God loves me, I am His child, I am a part of His Heavenly Kingdom”
You are loved by the Most High☝

What could be greater, better than that?

It’s a Man’s World

It’s a Man’s World

Welcome to the month of February!🙌

And the year just keeps getting better.😀

January was a busy month, as everyone was getting back to business and it seems like it flew right by. We shouldn’t loose that momentum but continue to go upwards and forwards, only stopping to bring others along on the Journey of Success with us!

Today’s blog is about you. Well, everyone on Earth that is. 🌎🌍🌏

It’s easy sometimes – especially when allowing ourselves to be influenced by things going on in the natural world, other people and our senses – to think “Why bother praying?” Or “Why bother doing anything at all? Surely God sees and knows what’s going on in the World, why does he need us to speak up or act before he does anything?”

Trust me, I used to have these moments a lot, when I’d just think “But God, you know what’s happening, why are you allowing this?” But then if I’m thinking this that means I must be doubting God which I shouldn’t be because I know there’s nothing he cannot do. Which led me to the conclusion that God has already done all he needs to do, it’s me who has to play my part.

You see the thing is, this is a man’s world. And God needs us to pray for certain matters concerning this world before He can intervene. When we pray, we are making it possible for God to help us.

If there’s a problem, God needs your consent to step in. Just like if someone’s house was robbed, the police would still need their permission before they can get involved and go forward with the case, because the house belongs to that person. So wondering why God doesn’t just “make the pain go away” when you haven’t asked or spoken to Him about it is like wondering why the police haven’t solved the case when they haven’t been given permission to be involved in the investigation.

God wants you to depend on him, but you can’t do that if you won’t let him in all the way.

Having said that, This life that we live on earth is our responsibility, which means we’re the ones who need to act to do something about what goes on down here. We need to use the power God has given us to change situations, and circumstances. God’s part in all this is to guide us through His word and The Holy Spirit, so that we make the right decisions. Life doesn’t just happen to you. Everything we are today is based off choices we’ve made.

I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live.

 – Deuteronomy 30:19

You don’t like how things are going with your life and around you? Then choose to change it! We can be anything we want to be, successful, rich, smart, healthy. So don’t settle for anything less than the best! God wants us to be all these wonderful things and much more, but we have to want it too and make that choice to act on and live by His word so that we can be all the God wants us to be.

Instead of feeling sad about what’s going on in the world, pray about it and inspire others to turn to God so that they may join you in prayer and take action also ensuring that better life. Take charge of your life and don’t let outside circumstances run it for you, because it is from within that the power comes from to make that change you want/need.

The word of God makes your life glorious, therefore if you live by it, there’s no way you or anything concerning your environment (in and including the earth) can be a failure.

Think positive, speak positive, act positive, be positive. 🌞

Complaining about what’s happening around us rather than doing something about it will not stop that thing we’re complaining about from happening.

We’re the light of the world, we’re the ones bringing hope to people and asking them to have faith. This world is God’s creation and it is ours for the taking.

Enjoy your week!

*I was actually going to talk about Love this week. However after being inspired by the daily devotional Rhapsody of Realities by Rev. Chris Oyakhilome for the month of February, I decided to change the topic last minute because the Word I’ve been receiving for this month has been too much to ignore.*

Be Prepared

Be Prepared

Hey guys!

I trust everyone’s week has been blessed!

Since the first post was just a post to launch us into the new year, I’ll say welcome again and thanks for reading.

I know most of us will have gone back to school or work this week (not me though #onemoreweekoffreedom👌) and so the “chaos” begins. School runs, exams, repeatedly checking bus times, rush hour and all that jazz. But while everything seems to be moving at full speed already, we mustn’t forget ourselves or be lost in the confusion.

Over the next few weeks is the perfect time to plan and prepare yourself for the year ahead. Instead of rushing into things, we should take time to pray and plan out our days. Now that we’ve gotten back on schedule, we can carefully and appropriately apply God’s Word to our daily lives and agenda’s.

We should take time to meditate and pray so that we will continue to grow and achieve all that we can. Don’t underestimate yourself or God. If He can do all things and He lives in us, then surely that means so can we! As Christians whatever we do will prosper, so don’t worry about how fast everything seems to be moving right now set your focus on Jesus and do not be distracted. Sometimes we may feel like we’re too busy dealing with life to study the word or to take time out to pray, but we have to remember that there’s always time for God.

You’ll even start to notice that the more time you spend with God and His Word, the smoother things start to run. This is because by praying and studying (especially in the mornings) you have set yourself to have a great day already. There is no way your day cannot be blessed after you’ve spent time talking with God and confessing His word!

Keeping our minds focused on God and His word will surely certify us a life of true success. Our minds are a doorway to our spirit, and out of our spirit are the issues of life. This is why we have to get God’s word into our system, to prepare ourselves correctly for a positive change in any situation or circumstance.

You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you. – Isaiah 26:3

You have to understand this: we have been raised with a new kind of life. And some people won’t/don’t get that. So don’t expect everybody to just accept at first. They may look at you strangely and even ask what’s gotten into you this new year, just tell them “the Word of God” and smile!

There are Scars out there looking for a Simba to destroy, but remember in The Lion King, Simba was the son of a King and therefore an heir to the throne, he was destined for greatness and once he accepted that and acted upon it no one could stop him for taken what was rightfully his. (I know it’s a Lion King reference, but the principle is the same 😀)

Don’t let people’s opinions or negative actions stop you from shining!

Be prepared to pray more than ever.

Be prepared to study more than ever.

Be prepared to grow more than ever.

Be prepare to shine and win like never before.

This year let people know just how Great our God is!

And if [we are His] children, [then we are His] heirs also: heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ [sharing His spiritual blessing and inheritance], if indeed we share in His suffering so that we may also share in His glory. – Romans 8:17

So this week make it your mission to spend more time with God so that he can prepare you for what’s to come.
